Introduction: Aging often associated with high levels of proinflammatory factors such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and leads to the development of poor performance and mortality, but it is possible to reduce age-related inflammation, improve survival in elderly people. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect 8 weeks resistance-aerobic, aerobic-resistance and circulation concurrent training on some of the indicators of body composition, interleukin-6 and insulin resistance in aged women.
Materials and methods: 40 elderly women (age average: 60.34±0.82 years, height: 155±0.01 cm, weight: 71.72±1.89 kg and BMI: 29.45±0.63 kg/m2) were selected purposely and were randomly placed into four groups, aerobic + resistance (A+R) (n=9), resistance + aerobic (n=10), circulation concurrent (CI) (n=12) and control (Con) (n=9) groups. Training program done eight week, 3 times per week. Within-group differences were analyzed by paired samples t-test and the between-group differences were analyzed by one-way ANOVA.
Results: 8 weeks of concurrent training, a significant reduction had in weight and BMI (p<0.05). In within-group differences was observed a significant reduction in serum level of IL-6 in the R+A group (p=0.04) in compared with A+R group (p=0.75) and CI (p=0.09).
Conclusion: This study confirmed that adaptations to concurrent training appear to be independent of sequence order of concurrent training and It seems that way at the beginning resistance training workout begins, followed by aerobic training can be more effective in improve inflammatory factors in comparison to the other sequences.
